Would you give $25 million to a man you never intend to give the ball to?
The only guys who get $25 million to not get the ball and put it in the hole are 7 footers.
If D’Antoni was still the coach, I’d say absolutely, bring Lin back, NOW!
But he isn’t.
Woodson is not gonna run any plays for him, and you know it man.
This time last year, Jeremy Lin was barely in the league.
Felton is only 28 and is only a year removed from averaging 17 points and 9 assists. And they can find a treadmill to put his fat ass on in New York, im sure.
$15 million cheaper for damn near the same statistics, man.
And by saying that people are going to show up to the Knicks regardless of whether or not they are any good, you are kinda making my argument for me.
If you are going to sell tickets regardless, why not save a little money without taking that big of a statistical hit?
The Knicks are gonna do FAR better than the Rockets next year. I guarantee you that.
Woodson will run plays for him had they kept him.
He already guaranteed that Lin will be back.
And Lin’s a better offensive option right now than Stoudamire’s corpse.
And, to borrow your phrase, you know it.
And of course the Knicks are going to do better than the Rockets this coming season man. No shit. They got Melo and Chandler.
Plus you and I agree that the Knicks make their decisions based on selling tickets.
Raymond Felton sells how many tickets, exactly? 40-year-old Jason Kidd sells how many tickets exactly?
Lin’s got the potential of billions, plus attracting the largest growing ethnic demographic in the U.S. right now (according to the latest census, Asian Americans are outpacing Latinos in population growth)?
What’s $15 million to the Knicks in the third year, at which point they might even be able to peddle him as an expiring contract or a sign-and-trade, and I don’t think it will get to that point.
Yeah I agree, the last year is an overpay meant to make the Knicks pay luxury tax that will go to a revenue sharing pot.
But they’re the Knicks!
Why are they acting like they’re the Bobcats by saving a couple million bucks here and there? I don’t know if the Knicks can even vault past the first round now.
Raymond Felton …
please.
You know better than that.
HAHA!
You know I could talk sports with you all day, right?
My opinion isn’t based so much on the money as it is on me doubting that Woodson will run any plays for him.
I just think that $25 million is a lot to pay for a one dimensional player.
But hey! If Omer Asik can get $25 mill for 3 points and 4 rebounds a game, then who knows?
The funny thing is that alot of this has to do with my opinion of Melo.
That guy is a fucking dead end on the offensive end of the court. The ball hits his hands, he dribbles the clock down to 5, and takes the shot.
If it’s Kevin Durant, rather than Melo, I would say they can make it work offensively.
If they are going to make the decision to let Lin go, I hope they make it based on basketball and not money.
You and I do agree that the Knicks have done a lot of fucked up things in terms of running their franchise, and we also agree that they have plenty of money.
They can afford him.
They are not the Bobcats.
The ball is in their court now, no pun intended.
IN my honest opinion, he will suck something terrible in Houston.
