I simply refuse to get overly excited about Dwight Howard in LA until the day comes where he inks an extension…

Don’t get me wrong, I am PLENTY excited about the NBA Championship my beloved Los Angeles Lakers could potentially win THIS season.

But I am not about to go out and buy jerseys and memorabilia for a guy who in theory may only play for my team for a little over half of a season.

That would’ve been no different than me going out and buying a Ramon Sessions jersey last season.

As far as “long term” is concerned, all this move does is give Dwight another team to play a season for while he contemplates the next 5-7 years of his career.

Can any of you think of any scenario EVER in which an all star level talent bolted the LAKERS for the Mavericks?

We just may witness that scenario VERY soon.

And IF that happens, my beloved Lakers ARE the LOSERS of the Dwight Howard trade. No Howard, no Bynum.

Plain and simple.
