2012 NFL SEASON PREVIEW-NFC WEST: Arizona Cardinals

You guys can go right on ahead and give Calvin Johnson the throne as the NFL’s premier wide reciever if that is what you wish. Hell, you can give it to Andre Johnson, and I even heard some obvious idiot say AJ Green after one season the other day.
But anybody that leaves Arizon Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald out of the conversation is an unfathomable fool.
Fitzgerald is coming off of his 5th consecutive 1,000 yard recieving season, and 6th in his 8 year career.
The concern in Arizona is NOT Larry Fitzgerald’s ability to put up STELLAR numbers. The concern is, who in the hell is going to throw him the damn ball???
John Skelton? Kevin Kolb??
Personally, I think that neither is that great of an option. The Cards vastly overpaid for Kolb after about 3 solid starts in Philadelphia, and I seriously doubt that the organization believes Skelton is their long term solution, either.
Other than that, the Cards really aren’t bad on offense. Beanie Wells is a solid running back, Fitzgerald is one of the game’s 3 best wide outs. That being said, they can certainly improve upon 17th in the league in pass yards per game, 24th in rush yards per game, and 19th in total offense. Their defense is equally as average. Their pass defense ranks 17th, their rush defense ranks 21st, and they were 18th in total defense.
This team is not that far off, really. One more playmaker on offense, and a slightly improved defense and I could see a scenario in which this team could win the NFC Wild Card THIS season. The division title is out of the question.
PREDICTION: 8-8, 2nd in the NFC West
