Mike Trout’s WAR is at 10.2, Miguel Cabrera’s is 6.5.
I doubt that someone dumb enough to think that I have an AL MVP vote would understand what WAR IS, but it is quite an important statistic.
WAR is “wins above replacement” a non-standardized sabermetric baseball statistic that is used to show how many more wins a player would give a team as opposed to a “replacement level”, or minor league/bench player at that position.
It takes EVERY aspect of the game (hitting, fieldind, base running) into account.
Real talk, if Miguel Cabrera doesn’t win the Triple Crown and still wins the MVP, he WILL have earned it. I NEVER said he wouldn’t be deserving. EVER!
But MY opinion is that because Mike Trout has had such an unbelievable season that has impacted his team so much and taken the league by storm, that Miggy will have to do something extraordinary to take it away from him.
In my opinion, winning the triple crown, something that hasn’t been done in 45 years, would certainly be enough.
Now, go tell another sports’ blogger that DOESN’T have an MVP vote that they are ruining things for Cabrera.
