Doc Rivers is one of the game’s top 2 coaches.

The Celtics have EARNED this.

Apparently he hasn’t been paying enough attention to Kobe Bryant the last 16 years….

Many people wondered whether or not Doc Rivers would return to coach the Celtics AT ALL.

So you can imagine the excitement amongst folks in Beantown as well as Celts fans abroad when they were able t lock up Doc Rivers for the next 5 seasons a mere DAY after the Celts were bounced from the postseason by the Miami Heat.

5 years though?? Doc, you realize it’s going to be EXTREMELY difficult for the Celts to be competitive for that entire stretch, right?

Kevin Garnett, 34.

Ray Allen, 35.

Paul Pierce, 33.

Danny Ainge did say that he could not guarantee that ANY member of the team would return next season, including the big three, but let’s be real. At this point in KG’s hobbled up career, NO team is going to give up a younger more athletic guy that the C’s would CERTAINLY won’t back in a trade for him. Ray Allen COULD recieve interest from  team who believes they are just a long distance shooter away but if your Celts why give up the best three point shooter in the league for anything else than a much younger guy who does it at least CLOSE to as well as Ray does. Doubt they will get that. Paul Pierce has been a Celtic for life. It’s hard to believe any other scenario than one where he rose with the current flag, and goes down with the ship. The one tradeable piece the C’s have is Rondo. But they are going to have to find a team that is winning to COMPLETELY eliminate ANY offense from the PG position, because Rondo couldn’t hit the ocean if he were Captain Jack Sparrow and fell off of the Black Pearl.

Basically, what I am sayingis that for the most part, the Celtics have what they have. If it is Doc’s wish to join the Big three as they go down with the ship, his wish will certainly be granted with this 5 year extension.

My personal opinion….the big three don’t have 5 more years of success left in them. More like 2. TOPS. And I am being generous. Doc WILL NOT stay the duration of the contract. I give him 3 more seasons in Beantown

But Celtics fans should still be happy. Doc Rivers is all class and isa top 5 coach in this league. If anybody can squeeze one more title run out of this aging group of future hall of famers, Doc Rivers can.

LeBron James played like the player that won the NBA trophy each of the last 2 seasons, scoring 34 points, and dominating the Celts aging defense.

That is all well and good.

The Heat looked great, and I’m finally going to come out and say that LeBron James is the most underrated defensive player in the NBA.

But I have QUITE A FEW issues with the Celts game, game plan, and strategy for tonight’s game.

1. Why was Doc Rivers so insistent on Kevin Garnett getting 20 shot attempts?? He is their THIRD best offensive player. NO team’s third best option should get 20 shots!
2. Rajon Rondo is THE WORST SHOOTER AT HIS POSITION IN ALL THE LEAGUE!!!! Any time this guy gets 10 points, it sure as fuck better be 5 fast break lay ups! To defenses in the league….why even guard this guy AT ALL??
3. Where the fuck were Paul Pierce and Ray Allen in the 4th quarter of this game??? Or the entire 2nd half for that matter. Your 2 best offensive options, completely silent in the 2nd half??? Makes ZERO sense.
4. Is it just me, or wa Craig Sager reporting a different injury on one of the big 4 for the Celts EVERY time he spoke???

COME ON GUYS!!!! Retired war vets with NO hands and NO feet don’t make that many excuses!!!
