NFL WEEK 8 IN REVIEW: Browns 7, Chargers 6

Nothing I love more than reporting on games that contain one touchdown and 2 field goals…..
What a snoozer this one was….
Trent Richardson toted the rock 24 times for 122 yards and the games only TD as the Browns improved to 2-6 on the season.
And San Diego Chargers fans continue to wonder when the team’s management is going to Ak right and fire Norv Turner’s ass…
NFL WEEK 8 IN REVIEW: Bears 23, Panthers 22

Ladies, gentleman, boys, girls, and Carolina Panthers fans….
They did it again.
By THEY of course I mean the now 1-6 Carolina Panthers that held a 19-7 lead after 3 quarters, and if you weren’t familiar with THIS season’s Carolina Panthers, you would’ve thought the Panthers were well on their way to knocking off the 1 loss Bears.
But then they did IT.
Despite 314 passing yards from Cam Newton, 118 yards receiving from Steve Smith, 14 minutes more posession time, and 206 more yards of offense, the Panthers were outscored 16-3 in the 4th and and lost 23-22.
This marked the Panthers’ 4th loss of less than 5 points, and quite frankly, put 2nd year head coach Ron Rivera one loss closer to getting fired.
Once again, the Bears big play defense came up huge when it needed to. Tim Jennings 25 yard interception and return for a TD gave the Bears a 20-19 lead in the 4th, and gave the team a 1 point lead.
The Bears are now 6-1 on the season.
NFL WEEK 8 IN REVIEW: Buccaneers 36, Vikings 17

Doug Martin was in absolute BEAST MODE for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night.
29 carries, 135 yards and a TD to go along with Josh Freeman’s 3 TD tosses propelled the Buccaneers to a 3-4 start and dropped the surprising Minnesota Vikings to 5-3.

NFL WEEK 8 POWER RANKINGS:

- Atlanta Falcons (6-0) Didn’t seem fair to take this from them on a BYE week
- Houston Texans (6-1) A 30 point beatdown over a 5-1 team? Impressive.
- Chicago Bears (5-1) Every key member on defense is healthy. BE AFRAID.
- New York Giants (5-2) As long as they have Eli they are never out of a game…
- San Francisco 49ers (5-2) Hard hitting victory over an NFC West rival.
- Baltimore Ravens (5-2) Without Lewis and Webb, this defense isn’t what it was
- Green Bay Packers (4-3) 9 TD passes for Aaron Rodgers the last 2 weeks.
- New England Patriots (4-3) 4 games decided by 3 or less this season. They are 1-3 in those games.
- Minnesota Vikings (5-2) Christian Ponder was held to 58 yards passing. They won anyway. Peterson is top 5 in rushing.
- Pittsburgh Steelers (3-3) They dominated time of possesion against the Bengals. Still managed to let the Bengals stay in it…
- Denver Broncos (3-3) They’ve got Brees and the Saints on Sunday night following a BYE.
- Seattle Seahawks (4-3) Their defense continues to impress. And their offense continues to look awful against impressive defenses….
- Washington Redskins (3-4) RG3 is leading the NFL in completion percentage. This guy IS a rookie, right?
- Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) The Eagles are 13-0 following a BYE week under Andy Reid. Could that mean trouble for the undefeated Falcons?
- Arizona Cardinals (4-3) The Cards have lost 3 in a row after beginning season 4-0. Things don’t get any easier in Week 8. They’ve got the Niners, Monday night.
- San Diego Chargers (3-3) They ACTUALLY have the #1 rush defense in all of football. How do you think they’ve managed to stay .500?
- Dallas Cowboys (3-3) Still not sure how seriously to take this team. A 5 point win over the 1-5 Panthers does little to help my opinion. But the Boys are 7th in passing offense and 3rd in passing defense. Prety solid combination…
- Miami Dolphins (3-3) 11th in rushing, 4th in rushing defense, and Tannehill is coming along nicely. In a division in which the leader has a 4-3 record, that’s not so bad…
- New Orleans Saints (2-4) 2 consecutive wins after 4 consecutive losses to start the season. But the defense still looks horrendous. Brees is going to be in a shootout every week. Sunday night’s showdown with Peyton Manning in the Broncos should be interesting…
- St. Louis Rams (3-4) They have the same problem every NFC West team but the Niners have. Good defense, bad offense.
- Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) 3 straight losses after opening the season 3-1. And their next 2 games are against the Broncos and Giants….
- Detroit Lions (2-4) I don’t think Matthew Stafford will get anywhere near 5,038 passing yards this year….
- Indianapolis Colts (3-3) The Colts’ 3 wins are already 1 more than what they had in 2011. Must be the Luck of the draw…
- Tennessee Titans (3-4) They sure do make it interesting every week….
- New York Jets (3-4) I doubt this media market will take solace in close losses…
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4) 420 yards passing for Josh Freeman on Sunday. But a loss is a loss…
- Buffalo Bills (3-4) The worst ranked rush defense in all of football allowed Chris Johnson to awake from a proverbial grave he dug for himself 2 years ago. These guys couldn’t stop a leaky faucet…
- Oakland Raiders (2-4) Solid throwing the ball, solid defending the run, bad at EVERYTHING else…
- Carolina Panthers (1-5) GM Mike Hurney won’t be the last to lose his job. The last time I checked, he wasn’t calling the plays for this trainwreck of an offense…
- Cleveland Browns (1-6) Better than their 1-6 record, if their is anything to be taken from that. But if you believe that old saying that “you are what your record says you are,” then these guys STILL stink…
- Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5) A team that is dead last in throwing and 25th in rushing just lost their starting QB an Maurice Jones Drew. Will they win anymore this season? I think they had best start thinking about who they intend to draft with the #1 pick….
- Kansas City Chiefs (1-5) As long as Brady Quinn is their starter, I simply can’t see them getting any better…They can still run it with the best of them, though…

BALLER OF THE WEEK (Week 7)

I STILL think that Chris Johnson’s return to prominence had far more to do with the fact that he was going up against a Buffalo Bills’ run defense that ranks dead last in all the NFL than it has to do with Chris Johnson ACTUALLY being back.
But nonetheless, I simply refuse to ignore a day that resulted in 195 yards and 2 TD’s, one of which was for 83 yards, on 18 carries against what is STILL an NFL football team.
Chris Johnson, we salute you.
But you still can’t outrun Usain Bolt…..
For those of you that think this hit on Bears’ QB Jay Cutler should have been flagged…

There was absolutely NOTHING wrong with this hit.
When a man that is 6’4 307 pounds runs down a man that is 6’3 220 and brings him down, it is always going to look violent.
The mere fact that we are even discussing this just shows you how soft this game has gotten over the last 5 years.
Some idiot on ESPN said this morning that had it been Tom Brady that was being brought down, this would have been flagged.
I counter that preposterous thought with the following…had it been Ray Lewis that laid this hit on Cutler rather than the often fined, controversial Ndamukong Suh, would we even be talking about this??????
If you don’t fear the Bears defense, take a look at this photo…

For those of you that don’t know, this is Detroit Lions’ starting QB Matthew Stafford.
The SAME Matthew Stafford that threw for 5,038 yards and 41 TD’s last season.
I can promise you that he believes in the Bears D….
