Beasley and Dragic to Phoenix

For the Phoenix Suns, trading Steve Nash to the Los Angeles Lakers doesn’t mean that they are throwing in the towel on their efforts to be a competitive basketball team.
The Suns added Michael Beasley and Goran Dragic to a team that minus Steve Nash and Hill, and plus 1st round draft pick Kendall Marshall, Beasley, and Dragic will be considerably younger next season.
The $18 million over 3 years that the Suns are getting Michael Beasley for is an absolute STEAL when compared to the 4 year, $40 million deal that fellow small forward Gerald Wallace is getting from the Brooklyn Nets.
Beasley is 9 years YOUNGER than the Nets’ Wallace, and averaged 19.2 points only 2 seasons ago.
Also coming to the Suns is a player that was on their roster only a season ago.
Goran Dragic is the kind of energetic, hyper, flat out aggravating young point guard who should eventually serve as a very serviceable back up for first round draft pick Kendall Marshall. Essentially, Dragic is a taller, more gifted JJ Barrea. The Suns are getting the 26 year old Dragic for $30 million over 4 years.
These moves may not put the Suns in title contention, or even in playoff attention. But you have to be honest with yourselves here, Suns fans. WITH Nash, you never won a title, and you missed the playoffs this past season.
No better time to start over, than right now.
BALLER OF THE NIGHT (March 20)

Goran Dragic had 16 points and 13 assists in a Houston Rockets victory over my beloved Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers score a remarkable 40 1st quarter points, but blew a 12 point lead with 6:34 remaining in the 4th quarter. Dragic’s 3 from the corner in the final moments was the difference in the Rockets’ 107-104 victory.
