16 years ago today, the hip hop world lost a true icon via a vicious murder.
16 years later, Tupac Amaru Shakur has become so much more than just a hip hop icon.
He actually released more albums and sold more records posthumously than he did when he was alive. They actually study Tupac’s poetry at universities around the world, now.
Tupac’s lyrics, his words, his message, and what he stood for have propelled him to so much more than simply a rap icon.
Tupac Shakur is hip hop’s John Lennon.
What I love so much about Tupac Shakur is that no matter what he said, you believed him. No matter how he said it, you felt it.
That is a gift that nearly every artist recording today lacks in a major way. Whether or not Tupac Shakur was a personal favorite of yours or not, take this day to recognize the man, the myth, and what he means to so many people all around the world.
Rest in Peace, Tupac Shakur.
May your music and your message live forever.
